Well, he was EXREEMLY fresh as expected, and thought he would throw a few bucks to begin with. Hes still very green with his jumping, and his canters not devloped yet, hence breaking into trot alot.. he has a nice jump though and the right attitude so i am very pleased. It was also extreemly windy which didnt help (hence the jumps falling over at the end!!) Excuse my stirrups - very long!

Merry Christmas everyone!
Well, since my last update, we have been interrupted by the snow; making riding and turning out the horses impossible! The school has been frozen for about 12 days now, and the roads have been lethal! Not to mention the yard! We were very unlucky with the weather, having lots of rain before the sub zero temperatures which meant any water left from the downpours had frozen. After everything had turned solid, we had even more rain and the whole yard, (even up to the entrance of the stable block) was covered in inch thick ice! The poor horses have been so good, as they have had to stay in their boxes 24/7 for over a week now.
I am going to ride them both tomorrow, as the school was pretty much unfrozen later on this evening! YAY! No doubt they will both be EXTREEMLY fresh, so I will need my super-glue out, but I’m so excited to be riding again, and for the snow and ice to have cleared. I expect the boys will be looking forward to going out in the field again – definite boot up and only turned out after they’ve worked, as I expect they will want a bit of a buck!
I am competing with the pony club on the 29th with both of them, and after being prevented from riding for such a long time, I’m not expecting anything special from either of them. Under the circumstances, all I can ask is that they behave! Rocky is doing the 1.05m team and Radar is doing the 95cm team – originally we were doing it to make up the teams, but as they will both be fresh, I’m glad it’s not big, as I’m anticipating some very fresh, excitable horses!! There will be updates with results when we get back.

First Post! :)
So excited about my new site! I think equineIT have done a lovely job (www.equineIT.com) < take a look; there are some really lovely sites Ian has put together!
I have now had Radar about a month and a half, and what a different horse! He came to me underweight, with a thick winter coat, no condition and a very stressed out horse! He weaved, box walked and cribbed when put in a stable, and HATED being left on his own. He also hadn't been ridden for over 2 years! Since then, I have lunged him, been schooling him, and he has even started jumping small fences. I've clipped him, pulled his mane and tail, and have also changed his feed. He’s been rugged properly, and is now a completely different horse to be around. He doesn’t box walk or weave at all anymore, and only cribs occasionally when he’s waiting for his feed - which he now loves, and is a much better weight. He is happy to be left on his own, and you can do absolutely anything with him. He is an absolute pleasure to have on the yard, and it’s hard to believe I’ve had him for such a short period of time!
I took him to a flatwork rally about 2 weeks ago and he was AMAZING. I have lessons with Sophie Dickinson, and it was the first time she'd seen him. We got into the arena a bit earlier than everyone else so it was just me and her for the warm up, and as soon as he went into trot she was amazed. I’m so happy she thought he moved as well as i think, as this is the reason I thought it was worth taking such a chance on him. He behaved so well, and impressed quite a few people with his lovely movement!
I also took Rocky along who was in a very cheeky mood, but in the end he produced some good work, and i was thrilled with them both.
During that week, Radar cut his knee on the Monday, and although he wasn’t lame on it me and mum decided it would be best to give him a few days off, rather than creating a problem unnecessarily. This meant i just had Rocky in work for that week. Each night accept for one (where i hacked him out) we worked on what we had learnt at that rally, ready for the next time, and i felt like throughout that week we had both made real progress. Our transitions had come on so much, and he was learning to carry himself much better.
The next weekend, i just took Rocky to the rally, as Radar was still off from his knee, and Rocky behaved so well! Sophie agreed that he had come on alot over the week, and said she was showing some lovely work. She even said his medium trot was looking amazing! (And Rocky hardly has a medium at all!)
The next day Radar came back into work, and was very happy to do so! He absolutely thrives on his work, and even at the age he is, he still loves to learn new things each time he ridden. I have just broken up for Christmas, and I have already galloped the horses, and taken them on some longer hacks, which they definitely needed! There are also some little xc fences a few fields away which i thought I'd take Radar to and have a little play about with, and he loved it! He seems to be proving very bold and honest which is exactly what is needed for a good xc horse! - Everythings looking very promising.
We are booked in to take them both showjumping on the 29th; 95cms on Radar and 1.05m on Rocky. I will post a report afterwards.
Up until then, we will have a little play with bitting Radar as I feel i need a slightly more control for the showjumping. I find him okay at the moment cross country/galloping, but i will probably want a slightly stronger bit than i have in him for dressage, as hes such a big horse with a very long stride, and i can imagine that if he got tired and decided to lean on me, it would be a task to keep my arms in thier sockets!

I would like to post more often, but excercising the horses every night, and having school (obviously only in term time) plus coursework when i get home, it gets very late and im completely shattered by the time all of thats done! But when im on holiday i will try to post as often as possible.
